| Stewart Island is a true New Zealand treasure and a nature lover's paradise. Sweeping virgin forest combine with deserted beaches, undisturbed bird and marine life to present you with a snapshot of a time gone by; a time when life was more about the natural things in life. What you need is a warm and inviting base to start your adventures from and Sails Ashore provides such a base. Living on Stewart Island for a total of 72 years between them, Peter and Iris are happy to share their in depth local knowledge with their guests. Some might say that what they do not know about the island is not worth knowing! Guests will enjoy one of the two suites which open directly onto both the sun and dining rooms. The views from this aspect are outstanding, looking over the much loved garden to the village, wharf and open sea beyond. The rooms themselves are architecturally designed and beautifully crafted to ensure you will treasure the time spent inside them as much as time spent exploring this exceptional slice of New Zealand.

"A fantastic three days made even more enjoyable by Iris and Peter. We thought the Bay of Islands was good but Stewart Island is even better. The visit to Ulva Island was a highlight.
