Gisborne restaurants
The Gisborne region is the most easterly wine region in the world and proudly owns the title of 'Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand' because it produces one third of the national Chardonnay yield. Despite this, there is plenty of variety in Gisborne wine production due to the huge variation in soil types - some of the largest vineyards are situated close to the smallest boutique organic medal-winning vineyards in New Zealand.
For Chardonnay lovers, Gisborne should not be missed.
Gisborne also offers a wide range of cuisine and dining attractions to compliment the Chardonnays on offer - a must is eating fresh fish and chips with a glass of Chardonnay on any beach in the Gisborne region - then your trip would be complete!
