Packing up the family for a ski holiday in New Zealand hasn't been easier. New Zealand ski areas and resort towns cater for the whole family, whether there are beginners, intermediate or advanced skiers and riders in the family.
Each ski area offers lessons and has a variety of terrain for all levels, so everyone can enjoy their days on the slopes. Here is a run-down of some of the key facilities for children:
It doesn't get any better at Mt Hutt than kids skiing for free! Yes that is right, for children 10 and under, when accompanied by a paying adult, there is free lift access (and also accommodation, meals and activities in Methven!). If your kids are older or you're seeking specific tuition then Skiwiland Early Learning Centre and Kea Club are the places to go.
Nearby to Mt Hutt, Porters also offer great family skiing and their own Kids Ski Free at Porters programme for kids under 12 with a qualifying adult lift ticket purchase. Kids under seven are ALWAYS free.
Join 'Spike' and 'Shred' at Skiwiland Early Learning Centre which accommodates the little ones; from 3 months up. Older kids move onto the Kea Club.
Experienced staff guide kids through activities and ski experiences throughout the day. Check out the Kruiser Squad holiday programme, through the July holidays.
The Nursery and Kindy caters for children from 3 months to four years. For the older children over five years - there are great options for both group and private lessons, day programmes and even academy level activities.
The fully supervised 'Kitty Cat Club' looks after kids from 3-5 years. For older kids, join TC Cat on the snow with a full or half day Group Lesson.
In the Mackenzie region Roundhill is well known for its gentle slopes and family atmosphere. Children have plenty of mountain to explore at Mt Dobson. Keen to go exploring? Well the Mountain Goats program at Ohau is perfect.
